Privacy Policy
uSSH is an SSH terminal. We collect nothing. Everything you do in uSSH stays on your devices — and in your own iCloud account, if you turn syncing on.
Data Collection
We do not collect any data. uSSH has no accounts, no analytics, no telemetry, and no tracking. Nothing you do in the app is ever sent to us.
The only exception is Apple’s own machinery: when you install uSSH from the App Store or TestFlight, Apple may collect crash reports and usage statistics according to your device settings and Apple’s privacy policy. We can see aggregated crash reports in App Store Connect to fix bugs; that data is collected and managed by Apple, not by us.
Purchases
The free trial, subscription, and one-time purchase are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never see your payment details. Your entitlement is verified on your device using Apple’s StoreKit — there is no uSSH licensing server.
Network Connections
uSSH connects only where you point it:
- Your SSH servers — the hosts in your bookmarks. Connections go directly from your device to your servers; nothing passes through any uSSH infrastructure.
- DNS — to verify a host’s SSH key against its published SSHFP records, uSSH’s built-in resolver queries the DNS and validates the answers with DNSSEC. These are ordinary DNS lookups of the hostnames you connect to.
- Your own Mac — if you pair the optional uSSH Agent Relay, your iPad or Mac talks to your other Mac over your local network so its keys can sign for you. Keys never leave the Mac that holds them.
- The demo host — the optional “demo” bookmark connects to a uSSH demonstration server so you can try the app before pointing it at your own machines. It needs no account and stores nothing about you; sessions are ephemeral.
Your Data, Your Devices
Bookmarks, settings, color schemes, and SSH keys are stored locally on your device — keys and passwords in the system Keychain, protected by Face ID, Touch ID, or your passcode. If you enable iCloud sync, this data is stored in your private iCloud account (iCloud Key-Value Storage and iCloud Keychain) so your devices stay in step. It is never transmitted to us — we could not read it if we wanted to.
